Tom Vallance was one of the key figures in the early years of Rangers Football Club. He was involved in the early games at Fleshers Haugh and became the first club Captain and went on to be the club President. In 1933 he attended the clubs match at Ibrox against Sporting Club of Vienna in front of around 100,000 people, a long way from those early days by the Clyde.
